Sony CyberShot 4 Megapixel DSC - S90 Review

Sony dsc-d90The Sony CyberShot  DSC - S90 compact camera is designed for the consumer who is looking for a long battery life, speed and good picture quality. The Caner features a Carl Zeiss 3X optical zoom,  and provides 32 mb of internal memory and a memory stick slot for extra storage capacity.

The CyberShot DSC-S90 is part of the Stamina series by Sony. These cameras are designed for extra long battery life, while using ordinary AA batteries. The use of disposable batteries is always high on my list, as it keeps the photographer from having to recharge batteries at the end of  the night. Steves Digicams says that “The S90 lets you take approximately 150 shots while using two “AA” type batteries and around 590 shots while using a NIMH rechargeable battery.” Bravo!

One of the great features of this camera is that it offers burst mode, so the photographer can take 4 shots at the full 4 megapixel resolution at a rate of .7frames/sec. This feature of the S90 is not typical in a compact camera.

The DSC-S90 starts in the mid 200 dollar range, a good not great price for a camera such as this. The draw back to the camera is that it is a Sony, so you are stuck with the proprietarty and more expensive memory stick memory.

Sony Announces Flaw in HandyCam

Sony admits that some of its Digital8 Handycam DCR-TRV250s made before March 2004 have a serious viewing malfunction.

“It has recently come to our attention that a limited number of products … that incorporate a certain type of image sensor device (CCD) may exhibit the following,” it says on its web site.

“When the product is used in camera mode, the LCD panel and/or electronic viewfinder exhibits either a distorted image or no image at all.

“We have determined that this only occurs in a limited number of devices, but may be accelerated if they are exposed to hot and humid environments.”

Sony says until October 2, 2007, it’ll repair, free of charge, faulty cameras with the problem which, it says, is caused by the image sensor device.

It’ll also cover shipping and handling costs, it says.

If you’re affected, contact the Sony Customer Information Services Center at 1-866-703-7669.

Sony Cyber-shot T7 - Thin (1/3″) 5 Megapixel Camera

Sonyt7The trend the last few days has been to release the pocket sized camera, and the new Sony Cyber-shot T7 is a prime example of a Kate Moss thin Camera. This unit takes a 5 megapixel picture in its One Third of an Inch thick camera. That makes a White Castle Hamburger look thick! With a 2.5 inch LCD screen to view your pictures, this camera will fit in a shirt pocket and never be noticed. That is, until you take it out of your pocket, then everyone will notice this beauty.

Steves Digicams was first out the box with this review.

The T7 has sophisticated auto-focus and auto-exposure options to help get the picture right the first time. It allows you to choose from nine settings to match the scene – whether it’s twilight, portrait, landscape, snow, beach or even fireworks – so it is easy to shoot high-quality images even in challenging lighting conditions. And due to Sony’s Real Imaging Processor™ circuit, the T7 is lightning fast. It shoots bursts of up to four full-resolution images at three frames per second. The T7 also comes equipped with Sony’s anti-reflective Clear Photo LCD screen, which significantly reduces unwanted glare in brightly-lit environments and delivers vivid color reproduction. The camera’s large 2.5” screen is optimized for easy viewing and sharing of images with friends, even at wide angles - whenever, wherever.

Ten pre-set picture-taking modes also make it easier to get the perfect shot, without having to make any adjustments. Select “Magnifying Glass” for macro shooting up to 1 cm from your object or “High Speed Shutter” to catch fast-moving action like your mom’s tennis match.

And don’t worry about your battery keeping up with you; Sony’s Real Imaging Processor power management system lets you shoot full resolution images in seconds. At 240 shots per charge, the Cyber-shot T7’s InfoLithium® E series battery won’t let you down.
